Katy never stood a chance to be anything but a Maker, as she's been surrounded by them her whole life.  Her father is an engineer, builder-of-all-things, tech-enthusiast and photographer.  Her mother is a baker, quilter, crafter and all-around creative genius.  It was impossible to become anything but become a mixture of those two.

She grew up in a tiny town in Northern Michigan but moved to West Virginia for college and ended up falling in love...with the state and her future husband, Bennett.  The two had a brief stint in the Mitten State before moving back to WV and planting roots, having a baby, and adopting as many dogs as they could.  They live in "The Friendly City" of Wheeling, where their son is now a ninth generation McKinley.  West Virginia is home, that's for sure.

Katy's career path has taken her on many new adventures, but the road always leads back to one focused around creating.
